Malachi
3:8Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.
3:9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.
3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
3:11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.
3:12 And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts.
OK! Now what...?
The churches want the tithes, so far so good. They don't often mention the offerings the "and part". Now here's the rub. You are expecting the devourer to be rebuked, the curse lifted and wondering when the blessing going to be poured out. Come on now, you know you and so does God. What you don't know is that when you sent that ministry the tithe and included the offering that "free gift" that showed up at your door had a
fair market value. That means it was deducted from what you gave to God. You just robbed Him even though you gave!
Look at it this way.
When the church sent you their
fair market bill which they then deduct from the tithe and offering, God was charged for those products. It's not a gift! If you sent money for those "free gift products" seperate from the tithe and offering you are in line with Gods word.
What's that you say?
I'm an accomplice to what, the church is doing. They indicated that the "what every you received from them was a free gift"! Well guess what? They don't understand what the definition of free is. Salvation is free but Jesus paid your sin debt in full at the cross. He did not then send you a note stating the fair market value was_____________!
Instead He provided us with His word, sent us the Comforter (Holy Spirit) and Apostles to record the word that has become the Bible that we read.
A Gift is A Gift - Fair Market Value is not a Gift it is clandestine way of robbing God and now you know the truth!
3:7 Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?
Perhaps the answer is by you
...being doers of the word, and not hearers only, "and not" deceiving your own selves.
