Jesus was recognized by the people when He entered into Jerusalem because they cried, saying, "Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is He that commeth in the Name of the Lord". The multitude, said, "This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee".

What happens next when Jesus entered the temple requires some explanation for those not in attendance. Money changers, during the month of March (15th. of Adar) set up tables in the temple. The reason was that; every Jew, in every city, was required to give a half shekel (tribute) to the collectors that were present. This .32 cents had to be exchanged for Jewish coins. There were many foreign coins that had emblems depicting idols on them and could not be accepted (at the feast - nor for worship) and the exchange rate was questionable at best.

Jesus went into the temple of God and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money changers and them that sold doves.

Brethren please discern between these 3 items in (italics) and notice how equal they are! More importantly please consider their relevance and the manner in which they are addressed by Jesus our Lord on that day.

Hint:

  1. (Matt 21:12-13)
  2. (Mark 11:15-17)
  3. (Luke 19:45-46)

Churches today often mention only the first two items on the list below. I discern no change in the actions of the early church when comparing it to that contemporary one we often visit on whatever day of the week that suits us. It should also come as no great surprise that exit polls reveal that many don't know what was said during the sermon!

  1. money changers...
  2. them that sold doves...
  3. NOT the sold and bought PART

Jesus said, "It is written, My House shall be called a house of prayer: but ye have made it a den of thieves".

Jesus example, on that day in March, - at the temple - has been forgotten even by the churches of our day. Drive past one of these new testament churches that is in the midst of having their very own bazaar example of what occurred back in the day: Yard sales, bake sales, garage sales and pet sales it's sold and it's bought in the best old testament temple tradition right at the new testament church where the money is exchanged with carefree abandon. WWJD - WWJS?

It is written in (Isaiah 56:7), "Mine House shall be called a House of Prayer for all people". It is written in Jeremiah 7:11, Is this House, which is called by My Name, become a den of robbers in your eyes?... Now, I realize that I'm not being political correct in all peoples eyes, but how do you interpret these old and new testament scriptures? Why did Jesus act upon these scriptures? What is the real definition of bought and sold? Did something change?...Behold, I Have Seen It, Saith the Lord!

I'm sure you have seen the slogan on many a church marque posing the question "What would Jesus do?" Act accordingly pastors, elders, deacons, and brethren! Jesus is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. You are familiar with the scriptures and Jesus led by example, Your are stewards - He the owner is coming soon... What Would You Say - Do?
